Giving Back on #GivingTuesdayNow
Right now, our world may look a little different, but there are still so many ways we can connect with our community and charitable causes we stand behind. America’s Charities are celebrating #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity taking place on May 5, 2020, in emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
From helping a neighbor in need, donating time and safety to forego much-needed blood donations, to volunteering your services for those less fortunate, there are so many ways to give back this Giving Tuesday.
Some ways that you can give back this #GivingTuesdayNow…
- Give Time
- This looks different for everyone. It could mean offering your time to help a neighbor with a task they can’t complete themselves (while maintaining safe social distancing) to giving an old friend a call to check on them. A little bit of time can go a long way right now, so be sure to spend it in a productive and giving way.
- Give Your Voice
- Volunteering your voice for a cause you strongly advocate for can really go a long way during this time. Check our special groups on Facebook, start a blog, or find an online community filled with others who also support causes you are passionate about. The more people that come together to advocate for something, the more support these causes have and the further their message can spread.
- Give Your Money
- On a national level, you can donate to the Coronavirus Response Fund to simultaneously ensure individuals affected by the pandemic have access to food, while also helping governments around the world immediately respond to the pandemic and strengthen health systems for billions. Another way to donate during this time is to give to individual organizations that you love most – no amount is too little, and nonprofits need our support during this time. Visit www.annapolisgives.com/resources/ for a list of local community funds that are in need of our support!
- Give Your Talent
- From hosting a virtual yoga class to offering virtual tutoring services for students, sharing your talents can help so many. You can even use your skills to help a nonprofit with anything from finance to legal help to marketing. Reach out to your local nonprofits to see how you can use your talents to support others in our community, and beyond!
However you may be managing in this new normal, thank you for caring and working together for the greater good. As been proven time and again, we know that when we come together during a time of need, amazing things happen.
