15 Best Places to Grab Takeout Lunch in Annapolis

We get it. Packing a lunch every single day for work can be a drag. Luckily, the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County area is home to tons of fantastic restaurant options for locals that are still heading into the office. In fact, our team is in the office four days out of the week, and we always enjoy getting out and about during lunch to enjoy some delicious local spots and the unbeatable scenery our city has to offer. That’s why we’ve put together a list of our 15 favorite lunch spots to share with you. Each of these businesses is locally owned and operated, so supporting them means supporting the community!

Davis’ Pub
Located in Eastport, Davis’ Pub has served the community since the 1920s. In 2012 the Food Network show known as Diners, Drive-ins and Dives visited, and host Guy Fieri tried the Chipotle Habanero Pulled Pork Sandwich and loved it! Other notable and delectable items such as the crab pretzel and crab cakes are great to try too.

Liquified Creative Tip: Try the Crab Pretzel, seriously.

Eastport Kitchen
Eastport Kitchen opened its doors in 2015 to offer American food prepared with the best seasonal and local ingredients at a reasonable price. This place truly has options for everyone, including great vegetarian meals. When you order, be sure to get the kitchenade as your drink, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Liquified Creative Tip: They also have an amazing breakfast.

Giolitti Fine Italian Market & Delicatessen
If you’re looking for some authentic Italian cuisine, you need to try Giolitti’s if you haven’t already. Open since 1992, this place offers some of the best Italian ingredients you can find around town. We can only describe the bread they use on their sandwiches as heavenly. If you’re looking for a yummy dessert, try the tiramisu, it’s some of the best in town.

Liquified Creative Tip: This place is a great dinner option too – their takeout holds up extremely well to serve at home!

Iron Rooster
In the heart of downtown Annapolis, Iron Rooster is a unique option for lunch as they offer comfort and breakfast-inspired meals throughout the day. One item they are known for is their Chicken and Waffles, served with delectable sausage gravy. However, many also recognize them for their RoosTarts, their version of the toaster pastry. (They’re open early if you need breakfast, too!)

Liquified Creative Tip: Try going there on a weekend too, they make great Bloody Mary’s!

Heroes Pub
Heroes Pub is tucked away just outside of Downtown Annapolis. This local favorite pub boasts offers great service, a great selection of beers, and excellent wings. With new specials almost daily (check out their Facebook), there is always something new to try at Heroes.

Liquified Creative Tip: You can’t beat the atmosphere here, and can we repeat – you have to try the wings.

Boatyard Bar & Grill
Boatyard is one of the staples of Annapolis’ especially if you’re a fan of seafood. Located in Eastport, this spot is a favorite for locals and tourists alike. Celebrities such as Jimmy Buffett have even been known to pop in for a visit from time to time. Aside from the popularity, they have plenty of seating, and the surrounding neighborhood is easily walkable if you want to explore while you wait. Back to the food, Boatyard is renowned for its delicious crab cakes and soft-shell crab sandwiches. However, all their options are well prepared and tasty.

Liquified Creative Tip: The flounder BLT might change your life – try it! (this is also a great spot for a lunch meeting)

Naval Bagels
Widely regarded as the best bagel around town, Naval Bagels offers a variety of bagel sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch. Our favorite lunch option is the Avocado Delight on an everything bagel! Be sure to try out Naval Bagels at one of its locations (Annapolis or Arnold).

Liquified Creative Tip: The Annapolis location is right next to Grauls, so if you’re looking for a side to go with that delicious bagel sandwich, just head next door and grab one of Grauls delicious salad options form their prepared food section.

Vin 909
Are you searching for a unique pizza option for lunch? Look no further. Vin 909 makes some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. Vin 909’s options are unique and delicious combinations that take advantage of seasonal ingredients. Make sure to get it while it’s hot!

Liquified Creative Tip: Aside from pizza, their seasonally updated menu offers so many great options, especially their salads, Don’t hesitate to pair your pizza with a delicious salad, or even head there for dinner and pair your meal with one of their impeccable wine selections.

Joss Café & Sushi Bar
Open for three decades now, Joss Café & Sushi Bar has been a local favorite for Japanese cuisine. Offering more than 50 different types of sushi rolls and other loved Japanese dishes, Joss is a perfect spot to grab something to go! (Plus, you can even order ahead online.)

Liquified Creative Tip: Their sushi is the best, especially the Crunchy Ebi roll. They also offer deliver within the Downtown Annapolis area if you order directly from their website.

Lures Bar & Grille
If you’re working near Crownsville and looking for a bite to eat, check out Lures Bar & Grille. Known for delicious American bistro food and an unbeatable local beer selection, there are plenty of options for everyone in your lunch party!

Liquified Creative Tip: This is a great happy hour spot too, so don’t hesitate to stop by for a quick bite to eat and a cold beer if you’re heading back from the office.

O’Loughlin’s Restaurant and Pub
Established in the mid-80s, O’Loughlin’s is located right off Route 50 in Arnold. Serving a wide variety of different foods, you can find something you’ll enjoy with just a glance at the menu. This is also a great spot for wings if you aren’t looking to go all the way downtown. Also, when they ask what side you want for your entrée, make sure you order onion straws!

Liquified Creative Tip: This spot has plenty of parking and enough seating that you shouldn’t run into a wait. O’Loughlin’s is also another great takeout spot option. Their wings are a perfect addition to any football party as we get into Football Season soon!

The Big Cheese
You can find a quick and yummy sandwich in Downtown Annapolis at The Big Cheese. As a cheese shop and deli, your sandwich is prepared with fresh and delicious bread and a curated selection of cheeses all at a reasonable price. The St. Mary’s Slugger is an excellent sandwich for a summer day to eat and sit at City Dock.

Liquified Creative Tip: Parking can be a little challenging at this spot, but don’t hesitate to park directly at City Dock and walk only a block over- it’s worth it!

The Ugly Pig
If you’re looking for a hidden gem, you must try The Ugly Pig off St. Margarets Road. This is a locally owned and operated deli offering locally sourced products. The chicken salad and roast beef sandwiches are to die for, but nothing on their menu will ever disappoint.

Liquified Creative Tip: This isn’t so much a dine-in option, but easy pull-up parking will make your trip a quick one. On a nice day, consider driving around the corner to Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park to enjoy your lunch on the water.

Pip’s Dock Street Dogs
Starting as a vending cart in 2006, Pip’s has served some of the best hot dogs you will ever have. Right at City Dock, the tiny storefront makes you feel at home when picking up an order with a friendly staff. The “Almost Chicago” Dog is our favorite, but you can customize your own!

Liquified Creative Tip: This spot is easily walkable to great coffee and post-lunch dessert options too.

Carroll’s Creek Café
Carroll’s Creek Café has three decades of experience serving the riches of the bay and the land in a new American style of cooking. Located right on Spa Creek in Eastport, the restaurant offers casual elegance right on the water. One of our favorite dishes is their Pan Seared Scallops, but they have plenty of options to choose from on their extensive menu.
