Annapolis Pride Parade + Festival 2022

Annapolis Pride celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, engaging local residents, businesses and groups to unite in welcoming and embracing diversity in Annapolis. Their vision is to create a friendly, inclusive, and vibrant community where all people thrive. Annapolis Pride works to build visibility and awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, create safe and affirming spaces where all people feel welcome, and connect the LGBTQ+ community with allies and resources.

BRIEF

Shortly after engaging with the organization as a sponsor, Annapolis Pride approached Liquified regarding their 2022 Pride theme, ‘Many Faces, One Pride’. The organization recognizes that the LGBTQ+ community is comprised of many people from all different walks of life, and wanted to celebrate each and every person in our community. Liquified immediately stepped in to help their team visually represent such a beautiful theme. With this being the second annual Annapolis Pride Parade and Festival, they knew that this celebration had to be an impactful one.

APPROACH

Led by designer Kendall Brandt, the creative approach started with the foundation that all of the colors of the rainbow, as well as the pride progress flag, would be incorporated. She also made sure to include the Maryland State House, an iconic landmark and symbol of Annapolis. The project didn’t end with just the master event graphic. Brandt also went on to design the event program, event poster, sponsorship signage, and the official event t-shirt.

RESULT

Brandt’s design work is her translation of the 2022 event theme, as well as what it means to the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. As stated by Annapolis Pride Board Chair Joe Toolan regarding the project, “Each beautiful face represents a unique and powerful story. Now more than ever, it is important that we recognize that while each story is unique, we are in our own ways advocating for and pushing for a more inclusive Annapolis. When we all come together with each other we are powerful. Our collective impact is unstoppable.”
